These fish are fantastic, they were the first fish I ever kept, and I still love them. I especially like the Lyretail variety because the long caudal fin gives them an even more elegant look. I prefer the Dalmatian over other colour variations because they have the ability to change their patterns frequently. They can shift from mostly white to mostly black or even show speckles of orange. Most start out lighter, but if they are in a relatively dark environment, they turn darker to match their surroundings. In my opinion, Lyretail Dalmatians are the best!

These were also the first fish I ever bred. They breed easily and frequently; in my experience, you can expect roughly 20 fry per batch. Interestingly, females can store the male's milt and fertilise themselves multiple times. For the fry to survive, a heavily planted tank is best. Alternatively, you could move the fry to a separate tank, though I find that process a bit tedious.

To keep Mollies healthy, provide a high-protein diet supplemented with vegetable or algae-based foods a couple of times a week. For the best growth results, I recommend feeding them twice a day. Mollies will also graze on algae around the tank, which provides a great natural supplement to their diet-it's essentially free food!

Finally, always keep at least six Mollies together. They are very social fish and thrive much better in a group.

This is a place for me to help spread information about fishkeeping and aquascaping,it's also a place to document and share imagery and info of my fish room.
